The FRC has been invited to speak at the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation's upcoming symposium, "Hurricane Season 2006: Are We Ready?" The event will take place at 1PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The NCBCP has also invited senior representatives from the Department of Homeland Security, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Louisiana Recovery Authority, National Black Nurses Association, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, civil rights organizations, NCBCP state affiliates from Louisiana and Alabama and others to discuss lessons learned from the devastating 2005 hurricane season in preparation for a more coordinated and integrated response to future community disasters.
